Everybody Loves Doris

The funny bone can stay fit well past age 70- just ask Jewish actress Doris Roberts. This past fall, Roberts, who's in her mid-70s, won her third Emmy for best supporting actress in a comedy series for her role as Marie Barone, the pushy, yet well-intentioned mother of Raymond in "Everybody Loves Raymond."

Roberts has actively spoken out against age discrimination in Hollywood. In 2002, she testified before Congress against ageism, noting that too often "my peers and I are portrayed as dependent, helpless, unproductive, and demanding... We shouldn't be shown that way."
