Flying High
Last summer, Alexis Dworkin's artwork was showcased throughout the world. It flew through the sky from New York to Tel Aviv on the side of a Nefesh B'Nefesh airplane carrying olim (immigrants to Israel) to their new home and bringing Alexis, then a fifth-grader at Har Zion Religious School in Scottsdale, Arizona, on a vacation of a lifetime.
As grand-prize winner in BABAGANEWZ's 2006รข€“2007 Capture the Dream Contest, Alexis won a free trip to Israel aboard the plane displaying her drawing. She shared the joy and excitement of the people making aliyah (immigrating to Israel) and felt deep pride and satisfaction to have her logo on the airplane. Once in Israel, Alexis and her family toured Masada, the Dead Sea, and Jerusalem's Old City, and Alexis even got to ride on a camel. "Everywhere we went was so gorgeous. Israel is an amazing place and I felt so close to the country, like I belonged," says Alexis. "I can't wait to go again."
