New Modern Hebrew Books Just Published

We are very excited to present the first level of the brand-new Shalom Ivrit series, the first Hebrew modern language series in over 20 years designed specifically for the religious school environment. All you need is 1-½ hours of Hebrew instruction per week or more, and you can bring modern Hebrew to your students.

[covers] Shalom Ivrit is a graded, sequential curriculum. Over the course of three years, it reinforces, deepens, and extends learning so that skills spiral and build incrementally. Shalom Ivrit 1 is built on the theme of the Jewish holidays. Two humorous characters—Bar the Mouse and Malmalah the Ant—help introduce students to such familiar activities as eating honey on Rosh Hashanah, dressing in costume on Purim, meeting a new teacher, and learning in school. Shalom Ivrit 2 focuses on Jewish values, such as peace and acts of generosity, that are explored through midrashim and folktales; and Shalom Ivrit 3 on the daily life of young teens. With the Prayer Companion students will also learn to participate in prayer with understanding and reading fluency.

As always, we seek to offer you the widest range of choices possible in designing your school's Hebrew program. We will of course continue to maintain, support, and enhance all of our Hebrew materials, most notably our prayer series Hineni. We hope that this new modern language series advances our mission of providing you with as many tools as possible to achieve the educational goals that you set for your school.

If you want more information about Shalom Ivrit, or would like to discuss curriculum matters in general, please call Terry Kaye at 800-221-2755 or email terry@behrmanhouse.com.
