As many of you know, on June 15th Behrman House acquired A.R.E. Publishing. We have long admired A.R.E.’s work, especially in the areas of teacher resources and mini-course materials and we think this alliance will bring many benefits to educators. We were delighted to help ensure that A.R.E. titles remain available, and that its tradition of excellent publishing will continue. Some of our friends have expressed concern over whether we intend to keep A.R.E.’s books in print. Let me reassure you: your favorite A.R.E. titles will remain in print.

We hope you haven’t even noticed that the acquisition took place; if you have, we hope that you noticed only that the books came from New Jersey in Behrman House boxes and were shipped within 24 hours of your placing the order. |
Steve Brodsky wins a tee-shirt at the NATE bowling party in New York City last December (not fixed, we promise!) Now that the book ordering season is ending, we are beginning to incorporate the best parts of A.R.E.’s publishing and operations into the combined firm. During the coming year, we are going to look for ways to effectively combine our resources. We have been discussing with Steve Brodsky a number of projects which he may develop with us. |
We are also discussing how we can consolidate our catalogs and websites in ways that best serve our customers. And in all areas, we will look for "best practices" from each firm, and try to apply them to everything we do. Don’t be surprised if during this time we call or email you, asking for your opinions about how best to proceed.
