Fall 2007

Welcome, Alys and Sunny!

We are delighted to announce that Alys Yablon Wylen and Sunny Yudkoff have joined
the Behrman House editorial team.

ALYS YABLON WYLEN

SUNNY YUDKOFF

Alys has been in publishing for nearly ten years. After earning her BA in English from McGill University in 1997, she interned at Farrar, Straus & Giroux while also studying for an MA at Columbia in 1998. Once she realized how much fun she could have in publishing, she decided not to get her PhD, and joined the editorial department of The Free Press (part of Simon & Schuster) instead.

In 2001, Alys felt she could have even more fun living in Israel, and left NYC to move there and work as a freelance writer and editor for the next six years.

Alys wrote several books, including Ask the Kabala, a collaboration with Deepak Chopra (Hay House, 2006) and The Field Guide to Luck (forthcoming from Quirk Books in April 2008).

She has also edited a wide range of adult non-fiction titles, with a special focus on Jewish Studies and Spirituality.

Sunny Yudkoff graduated from Harvard University in 2006 with a degree in Hebrew literature and literary theory, and followed her undergraduate studies with a 2007 Masters degree in Jewish Studies from Oxford University, where she studied Yiddish language and literature. (Yes, you can study Yiddish at Oxford!) Her interest in Yiddish has brought her around the world—from a Yiddish language summer program in Lithuania, to the used book stores of Paris and to the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Sunny is a bit of a Behrman House veteran—she was an intern here for two summers. Among her most important accomplishments as an intern were developing and writing features for The Explorer's Bible, Volume 2, and serving as project editor for Rabbi Brad Artson's Gift of Soul, Gift of Wisdom. Sunny brings with her an enthusiasm for all Jewish languages and literatures.
