Email from a Colleague

Michael Lederman, Director of the Battat Educational Resource Center, Bureau of Jewish Education, San Francisco dropped us a friendly note the other day.

Dear Terry,
I’ve been using Shalom Uvrachah and its CD with my three 4th-grade Hebrew classes (each class studies Hebrew just once per week), and all of us very much enjoy it. My 4th graders particularly enjoy “strutting their stuff”—demonstrating their Hebrew knowledge by taking turns volunteering to read aloud the “Letters You Know” section at the beginning of each unit.

We’re almost at the end of the book, and in yesterday’s class, virtually all my students eagerly volunteered to read and could correctly identify each of the Hebrew letters and vowels learned through Lesson 22.

I’ll take some credit for my students’ enthusiasm; however I really have noticed a marked difference in learning enthusiasm in my students this year, and I believe that much of that enthusiasm is directly attributable to shifting from our prior Hebrew learning materials to Shalom Uvrachah.

Kol tuv and Hag Sameyah,
Michael
