Series Overview
Shalom Ivrit is a brand new series that will teach religious school students modern Hebrew—fluent reading and comprehension—and provide opportunities for simple conversations. Optional Prayer Companion workbooks will introduce them to key prayers from the Shabbat evening and morning services, as well as prayers and blessings for the home.

Students learn Hebrew by using it, rather than through rote memorization. Each chapter of the textbook opens with a short story and new vocabulary words. Additional stories and poems, dialogues, blessings, songs, and riddles round out the theme of the chapter. A variety of comprehension activities—including puzzles, cloze technique (sentence completion), true and false, and word/picture matches—reinforce instruction and assess progress. The open and uncluttered pages are reassuring to the young learner. Recurring design features, such as the chapter opener and Checkpoints designs, clearly structure the learning path for students.
