The young people participated in Birthright Israel, a program that provides free trips to Israel to 18- to 26-year-olds who have never visited there before. The program seeks to strengthen the bonds between Israelis and Diaspora Jews.\x3c/p\x3e\n\x3cp\x3eMolly Richman of the University of Pennsylvania told \x3cem\x3eThe Jerusalem Post\x3c/em\x3e that she was \x26quot;kind of scared\x26quot; to go, but was glad that she faced down her fears. She was moved by \x26quot;how special a place it is.\x26quot; Jed Anderson summed up the feelings of many of his fellow students: \x26quot;I wanted to come because it\x26#39;s our homeland...I feel a connection.
