Thank you for being here today. We appreciate your assistance. This information is intended to help familiarize you with our routine and policies. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
  • The attendance folder can be found in the teacher’s mailbox. Please take attendance, noting absences and tardies.
  • Collect tzedakah in the envelope provided (found in teacher’s mailbox). Return attendance folder and tzedakah to the Education Office at the end of the day.
  • Please follow the lesson plan that the teacher has prepared. This will ensure continuity both this week and next. The lesson plan can be found in the teacher’s mailbox.
  • Refer to the “Day at a Glance” and/or the Teachers’ Bulletin Board in the Education Office for today’s schedule.
  • Please be prompt for “specials” and Tefillah, and remain with your class. Your active participation will be a good example for the students.
  • Books and materials can be found in the cabinet located in the classroom.
  • Please notify the Education Office immediately if a student becomes ill, if an accident occurs, or if disciplinary assistance is needed. You can reach the Administrative Assistant at ext. 24 or Lisa Goldstein, Director of Lifelong Learning, at ext. 11.
  • Contact the Administrative Assistant for supplies not available in classroom.
  • Report any damage of materials or classroom equipment to the Director.
  • If a child is misbehaving in class, please make every effort to resolve the situation in class. Relying on sending a child to the office undermines your own authority and should only be used when absolutely necessary. If all efforts to correct the behavior fail, please send the child to the office with a note explaining why the child has been sent. Please document the specific behavior that prompted this action. Please make sure to send the child with an assignment in case the Director is unavailable. When disciplining a student, please remember never to pick up a child or move him or her bodily. NEVER touch a child in anger or frustration.
At the end of the session, please:
  • Leave the room in order. Return equipment and materials to the proper place. Turn off lights.
  • Make certain you have signed the substitute sign-in sheet.
  • Leave comments and record of day’s progress and assignments completed on the form enclosed.
Please remember:
  • All records are confidential.
  • Please avoid discussion and comparison of situations in one school while serving in another.
  • Please use discretion in expressing personal reactions and opinions about what you see and hear in a classroom.
  • Please make all observations, suggestions, or criticisms directly to the Director.
Thank you!
