A Land Divided
In 1947, the United States considered a controversial plan that would divide the Holy Land—and create a Jewish state. In 1947, shortly after the Holocaust and not long before Israel was established as a Jewish state, the United Nations proposed a solution to the Arab-Jewish conflict in Palestine: dividing the land into two states, one Arab and one Jewish. This article is a dramatization of the debates leading up to the United States', and particularly President Truman’s, decision regarding whether or not to support the plan.
