Chocolate Bark

To celebrate the trees for Tu B’Shevat, I’m going to make chocolate bark. My favorite is chopped walnuts, dried cherries, and mini-marshmallows on dark chocolate--it’s Rocky Road! What kind of bark will you dream up? (Q: How do trees get on the internet?   A: They log in!)

Ingredients:

4 cups good-quality chocolate chips (dark, milk, white or a combination)
2 cups bark toppings (such as chopped nuts, chopped dried fruit, crispy rice cereal, granola, crushed pretzels, cookie crumbs--be creative!)

Directions:

1. Melt chocolate chips of choice in a heat-proof bowl placed over a pan of simmering water. Stir with a wooden spoon until chocolate is smooth.
2. Fit parchment paper over a sheet pan and with a spatula spread melted chocolate evenly over parchment paper.
3. Cover surface of chocolate with toppings of choice.
4. (An alternate method is to mix chosen bark toppings into melted chocolate before spreading onto the sheet pan.
5. Refrigerate for two hours or until firm.
6. Break into pieces and enjoy!
