Take Advantage of the Most Productive Part of the School Year with Free Hebrew Practice Apps from Behrman House

Written by Behrman House Staff, 21 of January, 2014

This is the most productive time of the year for your students. They know you and each other. They know the routine and the expectations. For the next six to eight weeks, before the calendar delivers spring breaks and spring holidays, help them make the most of their learning with access to a growing variety of free Hebrew practice apps. Follow up with formative assessments that really help you hone-in on strengths to celebrate and confusion to clear up.

Try our newest app: Batya’s Bubbles. Available FREE for iPad, Batya’s Bubbles helps students learn,  practice, and even record eight prayers and blessings. It matches Kol Yisrael, and can be used in conjunction with ANY Hebrew materials.

We also have a new Alef Bet practice app from Rabbi Joel Hoffman.  This fast-paced letter recognition game features timed challenges that get students’ blood racing, all in the name of the alef bet. The game is free on our student page; sign-in is required to track times and scores

We know you appreciate formative assessments to help guide your students’ learning and make the most of your limited time with them. Hebrew Reading Assessment, developed by Lesley Litman,  provides effective formative assessment whatever Hebrew program or materials you use. Hebrew Reading Assessment is available as black line masters you can copy and use in any situation (classes, small groups, one-on-one tutoring). In addition, we also have an online version, Hebrew Reading Assessment OLC Edition, that allows students to practice aloud, record and listen to themselves as they work. You can also log in and listen to your students and provide direct feedback, right online. You can find out more about the Hebrew Reading Assessment OLC Edition here, and the black line masters here.

We also help you provide a quick link to free online Hebrew practice.  Whether you want students to sharpen decoding skills, practice prayer, or even  learn to order ice cream, count, or say please and thank you in Hebrew, it's easy and FREE at behrmanhouse.com/students.

You can find free online Hebrew anytime, right from our home page from any computer with an internet connection. Just look for the orange STUDENTS button. Or give your families a quick link to free Hebrew practice right from your school or synagogue website. Just add www.behrmanhouse/students as a link on your synagogue or school page.
