Adam Sandler Supports Israel

Hollywood superstar Adam Sandler recently donated 400 Sony PlayStations to Israeli children whose homes were damaged by rockets during Israel's war last summer against Hezbollah, a radical Islamic terrorist organization. For 34 days, families in northern Israel endured constant bombardment, often staying in underground bomb shelters for several days at a time. After the war, an Israeli official briefed Sandler and his family about the emotional toll on Israel's citizens, prompting the 39-year-old funnyman to offer his help.

Reactions to Sandler's donation have been mixed. Some bloggers have criticized the comedian, writing that money to rebuild homes would have been more helpful. Others disagreed, saying video games provide entertainment and a brief escape from hard times.

Sandler did not explain his motives, but a spokesman for Israel's Foreign Ministry said the Jewish movie star wanted to "bring happiness to the hearts" of Israeli children.
