We got this question from an educator just recently:

“We want to use Kol Yisrael Online Learning Center Edition for our 4th and 5th grade classes this year and Alef Bet Quest OLC Edition in 3rd grade. We have some money left over in our budget for this fiscal year, which closes at the end of June. I understand the OLC licenses have an expiration date. Can I order the books now but have the licenses for the kids begin in the fall and the licenses for the teachers materials begin sooner so that they have time to get acquainted with the material?”

First of all, we are delighted you are choosing Kol Yisrael and Alef Bet Quest in the Online learning Center for your school. In fact, we recommend setting up your school in the Online Learning Center well in advance of the new school year. That way you can familiarize teachers, students, and parents with the OLC during the summer. And you can have your OLC up and running soon after the school year begins.

And, yes, you can plan ahead and order your materials now for use in the fall. Here’s how it works:

You can order blended learning materials for the OLC such as Kol Yisrael, Alef Bet Quest, and even Judaic titles such as Living Jewish Values OLC Edition either directly online in our new online store, or by calling in your order. We will ship the print materials by UPS, and pass the digital licenses into your school OLC account within one business day. The licenses will then be available for you to set up your OLC class.

The clock only begins its countdown AFTER your teachers and students have accepted your invitation to join the class. For this reason, you can purchase your materials at any time that works for your budget and your schedule, then hold on to them until you are ready to set up your classes and invite students. You can invite teachers to classes early so they can get acquainted with the materials, and you can invite students in the fall.

Licenses for our software are actually good for FIFTEEN months from the time students and teachers accept their invitations to join your class. Students will not only have access to the digital exercises and games for the full school year, they can continue through the summer to get additional practice, and even for a month or two into the following fall.

This makes Kol Yisrael and Alef Bet Quest great for some review at the beginning of the school year to refresh skills.

OLC classes remain available to students and teachers until the Educational Director removes them. If a class expires, the Educational Director can renew them with one quick click.

Summer is an excellent time to prepare for using the OLC in your school. We have a variety of support materials to help you. Check our archive of Quick Tips for the OLC. You can begin with Tip 15 and Tip 16, a simple two-part series that helps you set up your school.
