Second Hebrew in Harmony Cohort Begins Sept. 1

Written by Behrman House Staff, 23 of August, 2016

It's not too late to join the second cohort of teachers training to use Hebrew in Harmony, the groundbreaking new music-based curriculum for 4th-6th graders to ensure an engaging and musical Hebrew experience for your students.

Beginning September 1, Gratz College’s NEXTprogram, an expert provider of online learning for supplementary school Jewish educators, will prepare you to make full use of HiH: the Curriculum Core and student journals; music clips and video games; how to teach Hebrew reading skills with HiH; integrating movement, drama, and art; and how to enrich the curriculum and make it your own.

Over six self-paced sessions, instructor Dina Maiben, author of Alef Bet Quest and assistant director of the NEXT program, will help you develop sample activities and lessons, offer personalized feedback, and facilitate discussions with other participants. In just a short time, you'll be ready to bring Hebrew in Harmony to life for your students.

One essential component of the curriculum is the robust digital material that goes hand-in-hand with the student journals. The Full Digital Access includes a 12-month license for all the videos, downloadable music, Hebrew reading and recording options for students, teacher review and feedback options, and games for each prayer. Usable on ALL devices - smartphones, tablets, or computers - the Hebrew in Harmony digital companion supplements and reinforces learning, whether its used at home or in class.

Want to play around with the digital companion? It's FUN, and FREE until September 30. Try Sh'ma digital

Designed for use on its own or as a complement to the student journals, the digital companion is a key focus of the NEXT teacher training course, which will walk you through how to use both the digital and print materials for maximum learning.

(Note: The student journals are selling fast and are now in their second printing. We expect to have our stocks fully replenished by mid-September.)

How the teacher training course works:

No scheduled class time:  Log in and participate whenever it’s convenient for you – day or night.

Self-paced: We estimate each of the six sessions will take about 45 minutes.

Tuition: $50 per teacher (a 50% discount from NEXT’s standard tuition!)

*BONUS: When a teacher completes the course, Behrman House will credit his/her school $35 toward BH materials.

Upon completion, participants will receive a personalized certificate from Behrman House and the NEXT program in recognition of their certification as a Hebrew in Harmony educator. Register NOW
