Babaganewz Gets a Makeover

Laura Randazzo, an English teacher in California, understands the kinds of resources that other teachers are looking for, and thanks to virtual marketplaces, others have access to them. Her story of creating and sharing teacher resources was highlighted in a recent article in the New York Times.

A couple years ago, after hearing about the site TeachersPayTeachers.com, a virtual marketplace where educators can buy and sell lesson plans, Randazzo started posting her own items to the site.

When her lesson plan, "Whose Cell Phone Is This?" fictional character worksheet, sold more than 4,000 copies, she was shocked.

"Kids love it because it's fun," Randazzo said. "But it's also rigorous because they have to support their characterizations with evidence."

Teachers spend hours preparing lesson plans to engage students and many are looking to share their successful materials with other teachers. The new Babaganewz marketplace will allow educators to do just that.

Like secular sites, the new Babaganewz Jewish Educator Marketplace will offer a growing collection of resources specifically for the Jewish classroom. Through the new site educators can now create, share, and even sell resources themselves, reaching colleagues around the country  and around the world.

The collection will continue to include a wide array of free articles, games, e-cards and videos, and will offer lesson plans and other multimedia resources previously available on the original Babaganewz site and resources uploaded by colleagues.

As we are working on finalizing the new Babaganewz marketplace, we welcome any questions or concerns you may have. You can contact us here and we would be happy to help.
