Behrman House Blog

Online Journals and Customized Content

Remember when you were young and kept a personal journal filled with stories and memories of your days? Just because penmanship skills are passé, it doesn’t mean that writing in a journal is. The journal has gotten a reboot, with penzu, a website that allows you to write a journal and include photos in it. Users can choose to keep their entries private, or share them with others. You might use this technology to have students keep a journal as if they were a Jewish figure (prophet, modern icon, etc). Behrman House has also developed a customized application that you might use with your students. Invite your students to bring in pictures of them and their classmates (or have a photo shoot to get pictures) and then upload them into your class’ personalized haggadah. You can teach about each part of the seder—the meaning of the holiday, the background of the prayers, and more, all while creating a keepsake for your class. What online tools do you use to teach about the Jewish holidays. Send me an email and share the knowledge!
